What is a State Committee Member (District Leader)?

State Committee Member often referred to as a District Leader, represents each of the 21 Assembly Districts in Brooklyn.

They are elected, unpaid leaders of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.

There are 42 District Leaders across the county of Brooklyn and they serve as the Executive committee of the party along with the Chair and the members of the County Committee.

District Leaders can:

  • Support policies and/or legislation

  • Participate as members of the State Democratic Party and select Democratic National Committee Members

  • and more!

My commitment as a District Leader will be to use my voice to hold the democratic party accountable, support reforms, and create a more responsive approach to the party guidelines.
